Butberry 101
Butberry (Butler + Marksberry) is our brilliant and original portmanteau, and has become our friends' preferred shorthand for the two of us. Casa Butberry is on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, where we live with our 3 (seriously, three!) black and white cats.

How We met & Became a thing
We met on a dating app (Coffee Meets Bagel) and our first date was on Cinco de Mayo 2015. Because we're rebels we drank Negronis instead of margaritas (and gin has been important to us ever since). Patrick's contact info was entered in Katie's phone under "Patrick Bagel" and he has been known around town as just "Bagel" (and sometimes the more formal "Mister Doctor Bagel") ever since.
getting engaged
On August 18, 2016, Patrick proposed to Katie on a beach in Santa Barbara, California, at sunset. We celebrated our engagement with Katie's family in California and at multiple vineyards around the central coast (many of which we are still receiving monthly deliveries from).

Honeymooning (Part 1), Tulum, January 2017
our wedding & (first) honeymoon
We were married just 7 weeks later, on October 7, 2016. This was just enough time for us to make each other's wedding bands! Our wedding took place at the Pagoda Garden in Norfolk, VA with our immediate family.
We took a quick practice honeymoon to Tulum, Mexico, in January 2017, where we enjoyed tequila shots at bars sitting on swings instead of stools.
